Togetherness Meditation - Day 25

In support of MindDeep (on Twitter) and her wonderful blog post "Wanna Sit?" (read it here: http://minddeep.blogspot.com/2010/08/wanna-sit.html), the Crew will be doing a full day of impromptu STOP. DROP. MEDITATE! shout-outs.

Also, we will use the #wannasit hashtag - in addition to #OMC - so that all CREW & Cyber-Sangha (aka Twangha, aka i-Sangha) members know that all are welcome to practice together!

Namaste & Enjoy the Day! _/\_

  1. Have been in a funk lately...Got back from training & sent a Stop. Drop. Meditate! shout-out. Felt better after sitting for a bit - but even better when I saw that the_KamikaZen had been doing his meditative practice (mindful cooking!) along with me. So thankful for shared practice, the presence of others, and the fostering of community. _/\_

  2. hello all, and thankyou to @grumpyzen for sending the shout out. Timing was good as teenage step daughter just sent a barrage of painful insults my way as she left for school.

Friends, can you help me with a practice question? Today I sat for as long as I could but kept crying - came in contact with a terrible hurt. It was uncomfortable and unearthed something for me. When I tried breathing into it I just felt worse - like I was giving it too much space.

When you are sitting - is there a way to sit with those difficult emotions? How can I work with that? Or is the answer - you just keep breathing until it passes?

  3. I decided to do a little meditation for the numerous creatures Rick James the dachshund slaughters in the back yard. Poor moles and squirrels. Also did some visualization. A little experiment to see if I can bring something into my life - when I am ready of course.

  4. Bookbird, hopefully more experienced members of the Sangha can answer this for you. I know in tonglen - you inhale the bad and exhale butterflies. I may be oversimplifying. Every time I do, its a lot for me also. But what I know for sure is - You need to get out whatever has come up and there is no easy way around it. You have to sit with it until. Its that no escape thing that sucks about Buddhism.

  5. Today's shout-outs, first from Zen Outlaw and then from Grumpy Zen, came with an incredibly good timing.

Zen Outlaw found me preparing to cook lunch, so I decided to join in with some samu by practicing mindful cooking.

After lunch, and just as I was beginning to clean up the kitchen, Grumpy Zen's shout-out gave me the perfect chance to continue my samu by cleaning and putting away mindfully.

A great experience, definitely different but fun and refreshing.

Thank you for keeping us together, if not in space surely in time and practice. _/|\_ :-) \m/

On a side-note, Gloria said it was one of the best meals I've prepared… so I guess I should thank you for that too. ;-)
